A short but interesting obituary of Phillips, one of the last ?��living witnesses of the times and the actions of the resolute men who laid the foundations of our present institutions, by maintaining the connection of the present British American Province with the mother country.?�� Born in 1796 in Dutchess Co., N.Y., Phillips immigrated with his parents to Canada in 1809, settling in Fredericksburg, Ontario. He enlisted in the Glengary Regiment of Infantry at the age of 15 and was present at Stoney Creek and Lundy?��s Lane. He was a resident of the Bay of Quinte, at the northern tip of Lake Ontario, at the time of his death in 1868. WorldCat lists several in Canada.
