A superb and representative collection beginning with the earliest, and very rare, American book on rapping: The Mural Diagraph, or the Art of Conversing Through a Wall, published in 1829, written by James Swaim, and the only edition of a work which antedates the miraculous "Rochester rappings," of which it is perhaps the progenitor by nearly 20 years. Pamphlets include: A Treatise on Religion and Christianity, by Frederick Munch, 1847; Probabilities: an Aid to Faith, 1847; Pathetism, by La Roy Sunderland, 1848; The Harmony of Law, by John R. Bolles, New London 1851; A Peep into Sacred Tradition, by Orrin Abbott, Buffalo 1852; The Macrocosm and Microcosm, by William Fishbough, 1852; Biography of Mrs. Semantha Mettler, the Clairvoyant, by Frances H. Green, 1853; A Review of the "Spiritual Manifestations," by Charles Beecher, 1853; Lectures on Spiritual Science, by R.P. Wilson, Cleveland 1854; Discourses on Divine Illumination, by J.B. Ferguson, Nashville 1855; Spiritual Tracts, No. 1-[13], by Judge Edmonds, 1858; The Spiritual Register, for 1859, by Uriah Clark; Modern Spiritualism, by T.L. Harris, 1860; Rules To Be Observed When Forming Spiritual Circles, by Emma Hardinge, 1873; The Conflict Between Darwinism and Spiritualism, by J.M. Peebles, 1876. Of great importance, of course, are the extensive works of Thomas Lake Harris, of which we offer eight (8) more; and Andrew Jackson Davis; of which, we offer eleven (11). *Plus one or a few issues of The New Era of Heaven Opened to Man (1853); The Sacred Circle (1855); Tiffany's Monthly (1856); The Friend of Progress (1865); The American Spiritualist (1870); The New Age (1875); Equity (1875); Voice of Angels (1876). Inquiries welcome. |
