Bindings scuffed but sound. Occasional water staining, but unfoxed. A very good set. $1,500.00 S & S 44473 for a two-volume set the same year, by the same publisher, also designated the first American edition. This four-volume first complete American edition of Johnson's famed unabridged dictionary is not recorded by Imprints, but is listed in NUC. Both editions are remarkably scarce, and are preceded in America only by early 19th century heavily abridged or miniature editions. |
