Fisk was a Jacksonian radical and a working man leader who later (1834-5) attracted attention by his Trade Union lectures in Boston. He was an anticapitalist and in 1837 delivered a July 4th address Labor the Only True Source of Wealth in Charleston, S.C., for which he was howled down and beaten. Apparently published in 1845 as a means of advertising The United States Journal and Fisk's new publication, the Democratic Expositor (pp. 13-16). |
