A. Edward Newton wrote that "this book is part of Wise's 'build-up' of [Wise's] forgeries" and goes on to recommend that it be read in conjunction with Pollard & Redgrave's Essay and Partington's Forging Ahead. Contains a wealth of anecdotal matter on 19th century literary figures and includes interesting, if not altogether trustworthy, bibliographies of Robert Browning and Swinburne. The first recording of the Wise forgeries. |
