Amusing satiric verses by the notorious Shakespeare manuscript forger. His targets here include jurisprudence, catalogue makers, novelists and dramatists, and Johanna Southcote [sic], about whom he quotes Terence: "The production of one Imposture usually engenders many more." He concludes that "Whether this woman is an arch imposter, or really conceives herself to be that which she pretends, is of little consequence to the community," but her delusions should be laid to rest. |
