(ADAMS, JOHN QUINCY). [ANON]. ALS, 4 pp., tall 4to, in ink, signed "Lysimachus," for the A[merican] S[entinel], "To John Q. Adams, President of the United States," ca. 1828. $475.00

An open letter to John Quincy Adams, late in his presidential term, seeking publication in the American Sentinel, written by a supporter of Henry Clay, sarcastically noting Adams' praise for the disinterestedness of Clay and "the patriots of Charleston" who gave Adams their confidence, the same fawners who hailed both his promises and the violation of them. Those who now uphold Adams are worse than the obsequious serfs of Europe. Condemns Adams for allowing patronage seekers to corrupt his term. Praises Clay as "the brightest jewel pedent in the bosom of Freedom." A long paen of praise and objection.
