Rinderknecht 38812. Scarce. Another edition, equally scarce, was published the same year. An "unfortunate convulsion of some of the monied institutions"--namely the failure of the Bank of Maryland, coupled with the belief that its impending bankruptcy was anticipated by its officers--led to civil unrest. The issues at trial were whether official Baltimore had reacted appropriately and adequately when unrest began and rioting actually broke out. This pamphlet gives numerous depositions as to events in the city during this extended period of civil violence. |
