Foxed. $150.00 Rink 2913 for the first edition, Philadelphia 1827, of the Experiments, one of the earliest scientific studies in America devoted to the combustion properties of native substances used as fuel, particularly Lehigh coal. The work compares 20 varieties of coal and 46 types of American wood. This was the period of the nascent American railroad and canal systems, chiefly used for the transport of coal. This defense was first published in Philadelphia, also in 1828. |
