BAL 1104 & 1105 record first and second editions of this work. William Herman Rulofson financed the book; it was authored by Bierce and Thomas A, Harcourt. The NUC reports three copies of a third edition published in San Francisco. While our copy contains the same number of pages as BAL 1105, the added material is not the same: the prefatory note is not present, the reviews and comments are accordingly extended, and the section is not called "The Author to the Public" but "Opinions of the Press."
