    Five Foot Manikin

     

    (ANATOMICAL MANIKIN.). WHITE, JAMES T. White's Physiological Manikin. New York & London: James T. White, [1889]. . Chromolithographed anatomical figure with complex lift-up flaps, about 12 layers deep in the torso, with additional flaps over heart, stomach and genital regions; from four or five to as many as twelve layers deep (fetus in utero), the head, hands, legs and feet with three or more layers. Separate flap illustrations for the eye and ear. Figure about five feet tall, mounted in original red wood hinged portfolio, 3' x 2' when closed for carrying. Creases in a number of flaps, dusty & a little weary. Lacking legs. $2,250.00

     

    An excellent, unusually large, complex and colorful anatomical manikin, showing all the organs with additional layers of flaps, microscopical textures, male and female genitalia, fetus in utero with a revovling flap system that shows the obstetrician delivering, and the fetus organs with their own flaps. Extraordinary in complexity of structure and vivid riot of color.
