Has to do with charges of religious impropriety on the part of Magill connected to early aspects of perfectionism preached by John Humphrey Noyes and other revivalists at New Haven in reaction to Calvinism. Noyes is cited in the discussion of charges against Magill (who, from 1842-47, was pastor in Cornwall, Vt.).
