(NEW HAMPSHIRE COURT CASES). New Hampshire Court Docket Book (Court of Common Pleas?). 1802-1809. Inside cover: “Continued Cases to January Term 1810”. 110 pp. Small pocket book 4x7. Contemp. stiff plain paper cover, ink. Slight water stain at bottom edge on early leaves. Very good. $525.00

Cases in this court docket book are numbered from 1 to 446. Each entry includes the names of the attorneys, defendant and plaintiff and sometimes a comment on the case. A typical entry: “Case 236. B. Stevens, French. Asa Prescott Pla. vs. Nathaniel Brown. at Defts request to be defaulted now.” Another case: “ Case 384 S. Green. Webster. Concord bank Pltf vs. Asa Hacket e tal (?) defaulted at deft request.” Following the last case in the record book is “Sessions” which include petitions for highways and petitions for compensation. A typical entry: “Varnum 3. Petition of David Poor et als (sic?) for a highway in Hempstead, Londonderry & Chester for report of the committee. Report of this ..rupted us (?) to not laying out but cont. as to costs to next term.” Other highways are proposed in Candia, Nottingham, Plastow, Loudon and Concord. May be a unique item in a chronological series?
