    Wright I, 890. Eastman's first book, illustrated by her husband. Based upon seven years residence among  the Northwest Indians, "...she made an important contribution to knowledge of [the Sioux] by faithfully depicting its life and legends." --NAW. Purportedly the basis for Longfellow's "The Song of Hiawatha."
