SHAKESPEARE, W[ILLIAM]. Romeo and Juliet. A Tragedy in Five acts. Philadelphia: Turner & Son, 1833. 18mo. 65 pp. Sewn. Corners clipped, a few marginal tears, slight foxing. The first leaf of the play with name torn from top, affecting probably four lines on verso. $750.00

"Turner's American State" at head of title, with a list of other works "just published" by Turner, including Othello and Richard III. With an introduction on the characters, a description of the costume, stage directions, and the cast of characters, with ink corrections (probably not by the publisher). Not in the Imprints Survey or NUC; the former records one copy of an 1801 American edition, and three copies of an 1822 edition. NUC adds one copy of an 1817 edition. No earlier separate American editions are recorded.
