Shoemaker 38881. Howes H 34, citing only the 1827 edition. This horse-drawn rail proposal was one of the first in the country. Hale was acting chairman of the Mass. Board of Internal Improvements and in 1831 the first president of the Boston and Worcester Railroad. A pioneer document.
