    Twelve editions by 1855, all of them very scarce, and no second edition; the first is also 1847. "From Nov. 28, 1845, to Jan. 25, 1847, he delivered in Manhattan, while in a state of trance, one hundred and fifty-seven lectures. These, copied down verbatim by the Rev. Fishbough, constituted his Principles of Nature...In this strange melange of occult history, mysticism, philosophy, and science, critics have discerned likenesses to the works of Swedenborg and Brisbane." --DAB. Fishbough, a member of the Hopedale Community, wrote the introduction.
