    Howes J 32, recording only the editions of 1826 and 1866, but not this one. With Jacob's signature on a sheet tipped to front pastedown, and a 24-line holograph poem signed "J.J.J." laid in, together with a brief letter written by Jacob's grandson. The Frank Deering copy, with his small leather bookplate. "This biography of Cresap was written to refute Jefferson's account in Notes on Virginia of Cresap's tendency to murder Indians, especially in the famous case of the Indian Logan and his defenseless family." --Streeter II, 1335, the first edition.
